HOMILY OF THURSDAY OF THE 33RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Revelations 5:1-10, Luke 19:14-44

Foresight helps us to discern the consequence of our actions. Sense of discernment enables us to read exactly where history is taken us. It is a precious gift if we are able to have beforehand an idea of the end results of our choices in life.

Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem having seen the kind of activities that were going on there. Seen into their future, he saw what calamities they were attracting to themselves.

Ignorance kills.

The Lord said, “Would that even today you knew the things that makes for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side, and dash you to the ground….”

May our eyes be open, that we may discern the ways of the Lord. May nothing prevent us from knowing the time of our visitation.

Amen.
