*THEME: LIFE IN THE SPIRIT*

To deal with spirits, we must be in the spirit. The flesh does not see and cannot do the work of the spirit.

Those who are directed by God cannot be judged by the world’s standard. Their mode of thinking is beyond the language of a common man, who sees things only in terms of black and white.

More so, when we submit ourselves to the spirit of the Lord, he directs us aright and gives us the right words which carnal minds cannot comprehend. Ordinary minds understand only ordinary things. Those who are not lettered in the spirit feed only on milk. But those who allow themselves to be tutored by God will always be embodiment of words that are authoritative and powerful. The Lord said, ” _the words that I speak to you are spirit and life“_ John 6:63

In our today’s gospel, the Lord addressed the demon possessed man with words of power and the demon departed at once. And those in the synagogue were amazed and said, ” _What is this word?”_ Luke 4:36

More so, Paul puts it clearly in the first reading, ” _now we have received not the spirit of the world , but the spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the spirit.”_ Luke 2:12-13

Additionally, knowing our audience matters a lot. It helps us to know in what language we speak to them. We don’t waste our words like one pouring water inside basket.

May our heart be fertile for God’s words. May the Lord never deprived us of his spirit. Amen.
