THEME: SEEING WHAT GOD SEES IN US
God knows our potential, while man often judges us based on our past or current circumstances. God, who made us knows exactly our capacity. We must not allow any form of low thinking to undermine our potential. We must not permit any one to kill our passions for great things.
In St Matthew, we see a man who underwent a transformative journey from a tax collector to a devout follower of Jesus. Those who knew him could not imagine Jesus sitting at table with him in the company of his fellow tax collectors and the Pharisees said to his disciples, “Why does your master eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus’ reply was a shock to them. He replied by saying, “It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick. Go and learn the meaning of the words: What I want is mercy, not sacrifice. And indeed, I did not come to call the virtuous, but sinners.”
Dear friends, let us embrace the goodness in others. Their moments of darkness are merely incidental to the great purpose that God can fulfill through them in life.
May the light of God in us help us to bring out the best in others. Amen.
