Dear friends, as we celebrate the solemnity of the Annunciation today, we are reminded again that God is always intentional about the affairs of His people. The lapsarian experience does not render God incapacitated or confused about what to do.
Today, In the first reading, He asks Ahaz to ask for a sign. Since he hesitated, God was going to give the world a sign; a sign that He does not forsake His own. This sign will be that a maiden will give birth to a son and he will be called Immanuel. The name is not just a mere nomenclature, but a concrete representation that God is with us.
In the second reading, the author of the letter to the Hebrews tells us of the mission of this son that will be given birth to. He is to offer a sacrifice of himself, a sacrifice that surpasses in essence and effect, the sacrifice of bulls and lambs.
In the gospel reading, this mission is announced to the world through the Angel Gabriel to Mary. The Son will be conceived by Mary who was a virgin and pure daughter of God, a Lady who was conceived immaculate. How this was going to happen was not going to be a problem because the Holy Spirit would make the impossible possible.
As we celebrate the Annunciation today, we reflect on God’s intentionality about our salvation. We are in the plan of God. Let this strengthen us. Let our hope in God be renewed because hope doesn’t disappoint. When God sets out to do what he wants to do, nothing stops him.
Dear friends, what are you going through? What are those ugly experiences? Let your hope and faith in God be renewed. He has you in His divine plan.
Let us pray that we may be confident enough to trust his plans all the time.
May the Lord bless His words in our hearts. Amen.
