THE DIVINE RECAP, By Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp

38

HOMILY OF FRIDAY IN THE 19TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

Joshua 24:1-13, Matthew 19:3-12

THEME: THE DIVINE RECAP

If we allow God to give a recap of what he has done for us, we cannot thank him enough. In today’s first reading he narrated to the Israelites how he has been journeying with them from the time of Abrham till he brought them to the land he promised their ancestors. We may not know what the Lord prepared for us even before we were born. Being alive should simply be a testimony of God’s wonder in our lives.

In the gospel, the Lord Jesus said in his response to the question about divorce, “There are eunuchs born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs made so by men and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.”

Our fate is not simply the outcome of our personal choice. Our lives can be conditioned by the actions of others.  Above all, God has the perfect knowledge of our life scripts. Let us journey with him, that he may tailor our lives according to his own merciful design for us. Amen.
