The Lenten season offers a chance to return to God in all sincerity, leaving out our sinful nature and asking for forgiveness. The first reading of today portrays the sincere resolve of the isrealites to return to God and ask for mercy. Owning up that they have done wrong, acted wickedly, betrayed God’s commandments and ordinances, and also refused to return to God. As they did, we as Christians should always resolve to ask for forgiveness from God whenever we deviate from the right ways and ordinances of God.
The Gospel today from Luke addressed our ways or attitudes as Christains. Christ is asking us to be merciful as our father is merciful, do not judge so that we will not be judged, do not condemn so that you will not be condemned, give and it will be given to you, the measure you give is also the measure you will recieve.
Christ is not ruling out correcting people or actually delaying or being shy with a relationship with one another, but rather to do it the right way and avoid being overzealous, over righteous, and all that. Let also remember that the measure we dish out will be the measure we receive. Treat each person the way you want to be treated. As we pursue the right deeds in this lenten season, may God grant us the grace and the results.
PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
