Homily of Wednesday first week of Lent
Ref: Jonah 3:1-10; Luke 11:29-32

Repentance is a daily exercise, it is what happens in our lives not just once and for all, it is a continuous action.
In our lives, different situations prompt us to reflect and repent. Sometimes, it can be a good or bad situation that breaks us and spurs us to repentance.
The Ninevites in today’s reading heard the message of Jonah and repented. They heard the message of one though a foreigner but sent by God and they repented, from the least to the greatest.
This season of Lent calls us to repent of our evil deeds. We are called to change our ways to the right and believe in the gospel. No other sign would be given than the sign of Jonah.
Let us then, brothers and sisters pay attention to the activities that surround our lives, those activities call us to conversion. Let us repent and believe in the Gospel. Let us like the Ninevites put on sackcloth and ashes and pray to God for forgiveness. May this season bring us closer to God and help us in our journey of repentance.
Peace be with you!
