Homily of Friday of the fourth sunday of Lent. 20th March, 2026
-By Rev. Fr. Achilleus Ile Adole CSSp.
1st reading: Wisdom 2:1,12-22
Responsorial: Psalm 33:16,18,19-21,23
Gospel: John 7:1-2,10,25-30

The readings of today shows us the reality of a christian life as characterized by trials and temptations of different types.

The first reading from the book of wisdom tells us how evil is plotted against the righteous, noting that the ungodly says to themselves, “… let us lie in wait for the righteous man, because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions….”

On the other hand, the gospel reading talks about how the people at Jerusalem wanted to arrest Jesus because of the truth he spoke to have come from God.

Just like the life of Jesus was opposed to that of the Pharisees and the leaders of his time, as a Christian, your life is opposed to those who do not share in your faith in God, and so, they would want to bring you down in one way or the other with different trials.

In these trials, we must prepare ourselves and be ready at all times to face these trials, and we pray that God may grant us the grace needed in this journey through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Peace be with you.
