THE WORD OF GOD: OUR ANCHOR IN TIMES OF TEST, Fr Oluwafemi Victor Orilua,CSSp

HOMILY OF THE FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR C

THEME: THE WORD OF GOD: OUR ANCHOR IN TIMES OF TEST

Deut. 26:4-10, Romans 10:8-13, Luke 4:1-13

There is no promotion without examination.

 Knowledge is power.

Our result is a test of how much we know.

 No mission without a test.

Test running is a necessity for every new invention.

The temptation of Jesus tells us of the possible challenges of our call as Christians.

As Christians, we must be equipped with the knowledge of our history; knowing how God has being journeying with us so as to know the significance of making recourse to him anytime we find ourselves in a tight situation. Our testimony of what he has done for us or the generation before us should form part of our courage and give us more hope to face our present huddles.

Dear beloved, in the first reading, Moses instructed the Israelites to present their first fruits at the altar of God and recount the history of how the Lord had saved them from the land of slavery. When we believe in the works the Lord has done for us and trust in his word, we develop the capacity to face our life challenges with blessed assurance. for “no one who believe in the Lord will be put to shame”

The Lord Jesus conquered defeated Satan by the weapon of the word. He refused to be enticed by the devil’s juicy offers. [Luke 14:1-13]. How much we know about God determine how much we can stand for him in times of trials.

May the word of God abide in us that we may always stand firm in times of troubles.
