Homily of Wednesday in the Holy Week. 1/4/2026

Dear friends in Christ, as we stand on this Wednesday before the Triduum, our reflection takes a double edge.
Our theme asks: “What have you prepared to give me?” It invites us to reflect not only on those who give, but also on those who are willing to receive.
We live in a society where truth, justice, and honesty are often overshadowed by what one stands to gain. In today’s Gospel, Judas asks, “What are you willing to give me?” and in that moment, truth was traded for silver. Sadly, this spirit still lingers among us. We sometimes accept gifts to bend the truth, to silence justice, or to act against what is right. When gain becomes our focus, conscience is gradually lost.
On the other hand, there are those who prepare to “buy” their way out of every situation. We see a world where influence and money attempt to rewrite truth and excuse wrongdoing. Yet, no matter how deeply truth is buried, it never truly disappears.
Let us not forget: there is no peace in either giving or receiving a bribe. Judas himself found no rest, so much so that he returned the money, overwhelmed by the weight of his actions.
As we approach the sacred days ahead, may we ask God for the grace to stand firm in truth, to act with integrity, and to choose what is right, even when it costs us.
Amen.
Happy New Month to you all.
