HOMILY OF MONDAY IN THE 14TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Genesis 28:10-22, Matthew 9:18-26
THEME: WHEN GOD MIXES WITH US
Great things happen when God mixes with us. Oftentimes, he makes himself known where and when we least expect. At times, he manifests his power in us through our faith in his power to save. The bottom line is that he is never far away.
In the first reading Jacob didn’t know that he was with him until he had the dream on his way to Haran, “He had a dream: a ladder was there, standing on the ground with its top reaching to heaven; and there were angels of God going up it and coming down. And the Lord was there, standing over him, saying, ‘I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac.” He set up a monument at the spot.
The woman with the issues of blood simply said to herself, “‘If I can only touch his cloak I shall be well again.” She did and was restored.
Jesus capitalized chiefly on the faith of the official who invited him to raise his dead daughter. He was not debarred by the unbelief of the mourners. The Lord simply, “took the little girl by the hand; and she stood up.”
We may have a lot of biases in our mind as a result of life challenges. Overtime, we must have been disenchanted by varying disappointment in life, we should not give up on God. He has his own plan for us as individuals.
Let us create a prominent place for God in our hearts. May his mighty power never depart from us. Amen.
