HOMILY, SATURDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
1Cor 15:35-37.42-49, Luke 8:4-15
Our growth in the life is dependent on the kind of seed sown in us. Our success is hinged on the kind of word that drives us. Negatives words will surely thwart our growth. Positive confession and affirmations take us to our destined end.
However, the more the word of God we take in the more we are rooted in divine wisdom which helps us to stand firm in the midst of life contingencies.
We must not allow the devil to steal the word of God in us. Worldly philosophy and ungodly beliefs can kill the life of God which we have recieved through his word. We must be careful what message we take in lest they poisoned our life style.. It is not all that is popular that is perfect.
More so, we must allow the word to take deep root in us so that we can last in doing the will of God. The reception of the word is not measured by a moment of excitement which we feel when we hear an eloquent preaching. We must meditate on the word and make it own.
No tribulation should stop us from toeing the way of the Lord. A true Christian does not keep aside the tenets of the Lord simply because he or she encounters a tough situation. A true child of God remains firm in the face of all tribulations.
We pray that the word of God will take its rightful place in our lives so that, for lack of faith, we do not quench on our journey of faith. Amen.
